Our ideal microchapbook wears many hats, masks, dresses, shoes. This might be a series of tiny poems, a microessay, creative nonfiction, flash fiction, tiny novel excerpts, found poetry, miniature erasure poems, longer poems which can bear being split across micropages, visual narratives laid out like a miniature graphic novel, collages, or anything else we haven’t thought of yet. There are no genre limits to what this might include; the only constraint is space. Pages are 4″ tall and 3″ wide. Each page comfortably fits a maximum of 150 words; each line comfortably fits 45 characters across, including spaces, with 20 lines to a page.
For microchapbooks, we will consider work that has been printed elsewhere on the condition that this is clearly noted in your cover letter and that rights / permission can be confirmed by the editors.
FOR BABIES! (creative non-fiction) and Landing (single poem) are good examples of what microchapbooks can look like, but this is by no means the only examples of what microchapbooks can look like.
